Front Runners Vienna
The Pride Run Vienna association has been organising the Pride Run Vienna since 2018, attracting over 1,000 participants under the motto “Run for Acceptance!” This run is particularly notable for creating a unified running community advocating for the rights and visibility of LGBTIQ people.
Goals
Our goals are
- Visibility, Rights, and Acceptance
- Promoting the visibility, rights, and acceptance of the LGBTIQ community (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex, and queer individuals) through a shared running community.
- Demonstrating Solidarity and Acceptance
- Running with friends, supporters, colleagues, and family members to champion the rights of the LGBTIQ community, thereby spreading solidarity and acceptance.
- Preventative Activities
- Hosting running meetups, running groups, and events as preventative activities for young people and others within the LGBTIQ community, along with their allies. These activities aim to prevent drug use, social isolation, suicide, and mental illness.
- Strengthening Self-Acceptance
- Using running meetups, groups, and events to enhance body awareness, foster self-acceptance, and promote health and well-being.
Running Meetups
Run with us! We meet regularly for running sessions on the Prater Hauptallee and welcome everyone who wishes to join. These meetups provide a platform for connection and social interaction.
Participation is free and open to beginners and experienced runners of all ages. Typically, two to three different running groups naturally form, based on pace. The focus is not on performance or speed but on gathering together and enjoying a shared activity.
We usually organise through the Facebook group Pride Run Vienna | Frontrunners Vienna. For information about upcoming running meetups, you can also contact us via the contact form.
